Thanks, Mom!

squirts, bumps, ducks, barf and farve

We’re on the road, once again. Our trip home was going pretty well until yesterday, that is.

After leaving camp Sunday we headed down to Nashville to enjoy dinner once more with my sister, Diane and her family. We attempted a honky tonk, two-steppin’ BBQ dinner at the Wildhorse Saloon in downtown Nashville, but we arrived just as they closed for a private event. So we found some more authentic food at Jack’s Bar-B-Que. We then stayed the night at Yogi Bear’s RV park in Nashville and in the morning headed west on I-40 to see how far we could get. We made it all the way across Arkansas only stopping twice for gas & potty breaks (which is surprising since Elias had a lovely stomach bug during the week of camp that he shared with Ethan as well, hence the ’squirts’.)

As we set up camp at the KOA in Alma, AR we sent the boys on their bikes to the playground. Elias only made it about 150 yards down the drive when he hit a speed bump going too fast and lost control. He took a nasty fall and we’re pretty sure now that he may have lost consciousness for a bit and has suffered a concussion. He kept crying last night, “I didn’t know what I was doing - I thought I was sleeping in my bed - I don’t know how I got all these band-aids.” He’s covered with them, has a headache and lost his breakfast this morning.

Prior to the barfing incident this morning, I snuck out of the trailer to attempt to spend some quiet time outside before the chaos of the day began. After only a few minutes a group, or shall I say gang, of about 10 ducks surrounded my picnic table. These were the friendliest ducks I’ve ever seen - actually I was a little scared by their boldness. Ryan opened the door of the RV and said, “Look at all the ducks, boys.” and my quiet time was quickly over. We packed up and are now heading through Oklahoma.

Finally, is anyone else tired of hearing about the Farve fiasco? It’s amazing how many times a subject can be re-visted on AM radio - and I thought Sports Center was bad. All we’ve heard about this summer is Brett Farve, gas prices and Baracks next antics.
